BACKGROUND |
Since 1992, the ProBE Program (Professional/Problem Based Ethics) has been a highly successful educational intervention in practical ethics for several hundred health care professionals from 44 states who have been under discipline by their licensing boards, hospital credentialing office, and other oversight agencies. The Mini-ProBE initiative derives from this experience. Mini-ProBE IS AN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS OF LICENSING BOARDS, hospitals, and other interested parties to explore the meaning of “Professionalism” in healthcare and become familiar with the tools and concepts of the ProBE intervention. Limited to 20 participants, Mini-ProBE is a micro version of a typical ProBE weekend session. In Mini-ProBE, participants are given a script and, by assuming a “Respondent Role,” will more closely experience the content and dynamics that characterize ProBE. This approach provides board members or hospital credentialing officers with an opportunity to critically examine and experience the ProBE Program firsthand and assess its value in the armamentarium of potential interventions. |
